Charter Offerings
Bottom Fishing:
Bottom fishing is more of a “hands-on” experience, compared to sport fishing. This style of fishing is performed closer to shore (within a couple of miles), drifting over various choice locations along the reef. You’ll be dropping lines with bait all the way to the seafloor, ranging from 50′ – 300′ deep, and using light tackle spinner reels and rods. The deckhand will familiarize everyone with the tackle, and offer tips and techniques to getting hooked up! The productivity of any given area can vary hour by hour so it’s likely you’ll be dropping lines in numerous spots.
There are over 120 species that can be caught bottom fishing in Maui. Out of those, only about 20 species are targeted for eating. The tastiest include snapper, ranging from the small, blueline snapper (ta’ape), to the larger gray snapper (uku). Also Jacks (papio, ulua, yellow spot trevally and more), and multiple types of goatfish.
Sport Fishing:
She Go runs a five-line trolling pattern on her sport fishing charters. You’ll be fishing for ono (wahoo), mahi-mahi (dorado), ahi (yellowfin tuna), aku (skipjack tuna), kawakawa (wavy back tuna), occasionally a’u (marlin). Longer is better when fishing for these fast-swimming pelagic gamefish. 4 hours minimum is required for all fishing trips. 5-6 hours is even better. If conditions allow, it’s possible to reach one of Maui’s fish aggregation devices (FADs) on longer trips.
While no experience is required, sportfishing is recommended for ages 12 and older, since the gear can be pretty unwieldy for younger anglers, and there’s often a lot of waiting involved.
Combination Fishing and Snorkeling Charters
You can add snorkeling to any of your fishing charters at no additional cost. Or just snorkel! It’s up to you. Explore notable south Maui snorkel spots like Molokini Crater, Turtle Town, or Coral Gardens. She Go provides fins, snorkels, and masks in a wide range of sizes. They also carry noodles and other floatation devices. While the crew welcomes first-time snorkelers, we ask that non-swimmers remain on board with the captain to soak up the scenery.
Maui plays host to an abundance of secret spots where you can find turtle cleaning stations, triggerfish hot zones, and even a few secluded areas that our friendly, resident reef sharks call home. Depending on the wind and the ocean swell, She Go’s crew will choose the best spots to help you create lasting memories.
Want epic underwater photos? She Go can provide a professional photographer that is available for certain types of trips. You will get snorkel shots, drone shots, and action shots of your day! (Additional charges apply).
Other ActivitiesÂ
She Go also offers seasonal whale watching (Dec-Apr), sunset cruises, and ash-scattering. Just let us know what you’re hoping to do.
